Canadian MP Condemns Attacks on Journalists: An Indian-origin MP in Canada has expressed concern over attacks on journalists reporting on Khalistani terrorism and has asked the authorities to deal strictly with such cases. Chandra Arya, MP from Nepean in the House of Commons, while addressing Parliament on Friday, October 11, said, “I am deeply concerned by the attacks on journalists reporting on Khalistani terrorism in Canada.”
“Law enforcement agencies should take strict action”
Referring to the attacks on Rishi Nagar of ‘Red FM Calgary’ a few days ago, he said that many more attacks have been carried out by Khalistani terrorists in the Greater Toronto Area and across Canada. He said, “I appeal to the law enforcement agencies to take Khalistani terrorism very seriously. It has to be dealt with sternly before it is too late.”
The MP reminded that in March 2023, Sameer Kaushal of “Radio AM600” was attacked for covering the Khalistan protests. He said that in February 2022, ‘Brampton Radio’ host Deepak Punj was attacked in his studio for criticizing Khalistan-related violence. Arya said that investigative journalist on terrorist matters, Mocha Bezirgan, has received death threats for her fearless reporting on Khalistani terrorism.
When MP Chandra Arya scolded Khalistanis in Parliament
In September last year, relations between India and Canada were severely strained after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged the “possible” involvement of an Indian agent in the murder of Khalistani supporter Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia. India had rejected Trudeau’s allegations.
This year, the anniversary of Nijjar’s death was observed in the Parliament of Canada and silence was also observed. Then MP Chandra Arya had drawn everyone’s attention to the 1983 flight explosion in Parliament. He said, “39 years ago an Air India flight was blown up in the sky, killing 329 passengers and crew. It was the largest such attack in Canadian history, killing a total of 268 Canadians.” There was death.”
MP Chandra Arya has given this statement at a time when Canadian PM Justin Trudeau is in danger of losing his position. After losing the by-election, there are chances of a split in the party.
